Alternative Mechanics for Sustainable Designs (The Sustainable Florist's Journey Part II) - Sunday March 23rd 1:00PM - 2:30PM
There are a variety of methods to create floral designs without the use of conventional floral foam. One of the wonderful aspects of sustainable floral design is the ability to repurpose mechanics again and again. In this hands-on class, each student will have the opportunity to create a design with chicken wire to experience a different type of support mechanic.
Working with seasonal, predominantly Canadian-grown flowers and foliage, we will discuss the benefits of purchasing locally grown flowers, the impact of reducing our use of single use plastics, and the long-term benefit of investing in premium design tools.
Whether you have decided to go foam-free with your floral design business, want to explore sustainable design mechanics, or simply want to gain new design techniques, this hands-on workshop will leave you with valuable tools and knowledge to improve yourself as a sustainable floral designer.
