5 Ways to Decorate for Fall
The days are getting shorter and it's time to get cozy! One of the best ways to welcome the change of season is to spruce up your nest with texture, colour, and fragrance. Our Design Team has compiled five ways to easily transform your space into a welcoming and cozy retreat.
1. Pumpkin Vibes
Pumpkins are an incredible cost-effective decor piece and come in a wide variety of colours, textures, and shapes. Grouped together by a front entry way, lined up on your front steps, or clustered together on a kitchen island or credenza, pumpkins are a long-lasting option and can even be carved into a Jack-O-Lantern for Halloween.
2. Candle Light
With the shorter days, we are turning on the lights earlier. One of our favourite ways to make a space feel cozy is to add candlelight. We love the soft warm glow that beeswax candles offer (try these taper candles from EastVan Bees), and truly believe in the indulgence of burning candles on any given day of the week. For an extra cozy feel, opt for a candleholder that is both functional and decorative - we love these concrete homes from Wind + Willow Co.
3. Incorporate Fall Textures
Harvest season isn't just about flowers - this time of year is ripe with foliages which add drama and interest to bouquets and arrangements. A bouquet of foliage is just as effective as a bouquet of flowers, and any vessel can become a statement piece with the right botanicals. We added hibiscus foliage to this textured gold vase for a rich contrast between the burgundy leaves and metallic gold finish.
4. Set The Table (With Flowers)
One of the easiest ways to make your space feel special is to place flowers on your table. We eat at least two meals a day (maybe three if you work from home) at our tables. It's been proven that having fresh flowers in your home decreases levels of stress, boosts creativity, and increases our feelings of wellbeing. A vase can be as simple as a glass mason jar or as fancy as an antique vase. The point here is to slow down and enjoy the feeling of simple luxury by treating yourself to fresh flowers.
5. Dried Flowers
As fall settles in with the knowledge that even colder days are around the corner, dried flowers offer texture that blends seamlessly from autumn into winter. Adding dried flowers to a pottery or ceramic vessel gives a feeling of warmth, but dried flowers can also be displayed in containers that are not water-tight, such as this wicker vase.
We hope you enjoy the transition from summer to autumn and find these tips helpful in making your space feel warm and cozy.
